What we do & how
Infinite Mindcare, located in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, is a multi-specialty counseling center offering psychotherapy for adolescents, teens and adults with an array of concerns. We also provide specialised services for First Responders, Addictions, and Businesses on island. All our clinicians are trained (Master and Doctoral Level) and licensed professionals, who are passionate about providing quality therapy. Therapy is always informed by evidence based practice founded on the latest research and theory utilizing various models of therapy. The main therapeutic approaches we use are:
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
ACT incorporates concepts from mindfulness, acceptance and behavioural change to help cope with suffering through acceptance. Your therapist will work with you to consider how to embrace and accept life as it is and tolerate distress. ACT can also help us to develop core values and principles to live by, whilst accepting there may be limitations. ACT has been shown to be particularly effective for chronic pain and depression. It is also used effectively with psychosis, substance misuse, OCD and PTSD.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
CBT aims to help individuals develop strategies and resiliency for managing in the here and now. Clients will be supported to recognise that our thoughts, actions and physical symptoms all affect how we feel. Often, difficult past experiences or stressors in our environment can lead us to feel a sense of overwhelm and feel negative towards ourself, others or the world. In CBT, the therapist will work with you to identify your patterns and teach techniques that can be used outwith sessions. This therapy is great for those who overthink or are struggling with work related challenges, as well as for individuals experiencing more significant mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance misuse difficulties, or eating disorders.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR has been shown to be the most effective trauma therapy and is excellent for treating PTSD. It has also been deemed effective for a number of presentations, including panic disorder, anxiety, phobias, grief, anger, addictions, chronic pain and self-esteem. Every time we access a memory or acknowledge a strong feeling; we have the power to change the emotional effect around it.
Simply put, our brain heals itself naturally, however difficult experiences can get ‘stuck’ in the wrong part of our brain. EMDR helps our brain to create better connections and form betting coping responses, when we feel overwhelmed. During sessions, clinicians will support you to access distressing experiences or memories and use non-invasive eye movements or tapping to help your brain process past ‘stuck’ memories using ‘bilateral stimulation’. All our clinicians are trained in EMDR which is supported by rigorous research. It can be used for all ages.
DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy)
