What We Do and How

Eye Movement Desensitizationand Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitizationand Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is the most effective trauma therapy and is excellent for treating PTSD. It has also been deemed effective for several presentations, including panic disorder, anxiety, phobias, grief, anger, addictions, chronic pain and self-esteem.

Every time we access a memory or acknowledge a strong feeling; we have the power to change the emotional effect around it.

Simply put, our brain heals itself naturally, however difficult experiences can get ‘stuck’ in the wrong part of our brain. EMDR helps our brain to create better connections and form betting coping responses when we feel overwhelmed.

During sessions, clinicians will support you in accessing distressing experiences or memories and use non-invasive eye movements or tapping to help your brain process past ‘stuck’ memories using ‘bilateral stimulation’. All our clinicians are trained in EMDR which is supported by rigorous research. It can be used for all ages.
