ACT incorporates concepts from mindfulness, acceptance, and behavioural change to help people cope with suffering through acceptance.
Your therapist will work with you to consider how to embrace and accept life as it is and tolerate distress.
ACT can also help us to develop core values and principles to live by, whilst accepting there may be limitations.
ACT has been shown to be particularly effective for chronic pain and depression. It is also used effectively with psychosis, substance misuse, OCD and PTSD.
